Wilderness Policy & Management Issues

Establishing and defending a space|geographic area|geographical region|geographic region} protected area class (Category 1b) in the world protected areas organization of the globe Commission on Protected Areas among the International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN);
Co-founding and co-chairing IUCN’s Wilderness Specialist cluster and coordinating  several collaborators to manufacture international Management tips for IUCN class 1b wilderness;
Pioneering the first non-public geographic area designation in Africa, and the first geographic area protocol and designation in geographic region (Mexico);
Compiling state of the art data on geographic area law and policy together with the initial ever International reference book on geographic area Law and Policy (in English, French, and Spanish), the International Journal of Wilderness and the solely text book on geographic area management;
Creating the initial policy exploration for “marine wilderness” in 1987, that lead eventually to collaboratives at work in numerous countries, and to the first internationally-agreed definition of marine geographic area between North American nation, the US, and Mexico;
Convening government officers for geographic area conservation at each World geographic area Congress, but additionally for specific functions. In 2004, WILD held a round-table involving officers from seven countries to review completely different international legal approaches and protocols to geographic area law and policy. In 2009, we initiated the initial ever international agreement on geographic area. Facilitating creation of the first, continental-scale “Vision for a Wilder Europe” to address the “rewilding” occurring across Europe WILD is devoted to providing the foremost up-to-date tools for decision manufacturers and geographic area managers round the world.  As part of this commitment, we publish the International Journal of geographic area, the geographic area Management Textbook and the reference book on International Wilderness Law & Policy.
